The Warwick Senators made it two from two to start life in the NBL1 West Men’s competition with a big road win on Saturday night while the Perry Lakes Hawks got on the board in Kalgoorlie while the East Perth Eagles and Willetton Tigers won on their home floors.
The first ever night in the NBL1 West Men’s competition took place on Friday with the Joondalup Wolves beating the East Perth Eagles 98-57, the Mandurah Magic defeating the South West Slammers 89-67, the Rockingham Flames downed the Cockburn Cougars 86-72 and the Warwick Senators had too much for the Perth Redbacks 86-52.
Saturday night’s Round 1 action then got underway with the Warwick Senators making it two from two on the back of winning last year’s West Coast Classic title, beating the South West Slammers 96-60 at Eaton Recreation Centre.
The other Grand Finalists from the West Coast Classic, the Perry Lakes Hawks also made a winning start to their life in NBL1 West winning 100-89 on the road to the Goldfields Giants at Kalgoorlie’s Niels Hansen Basketball Stadium.
The East Perth Eagles bounced from a Friday night loss to beat the Mandurah Magic 95-89 at Herb Graham Recreation Centre while the Willetton Tigers made a winning start defeating the Lakeside Lightning 96-87 at Willetton Basketball Stadium.
