The Willetton Basketball Association (WBA) are seeking a Referee Development Officer to lead and expand our successful and growing referee program. This part-time (20 hours/week) role involves overseeing referee pathways, including elite development, education, and supervision, while working closely with the competitions team.
The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, a passion for supporting referee development, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Flexible working hours are available, with in-office time required on Mondays and Saturdays, and monthly evening meetings.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and expand the referee program
- Oversee elite referee pathways, training, and support
- Work closely with the competitions team to ensure smooth operations
Essential Requirements:
- Working With Children Card
- Level 1 Basketball Referee Qualification (or willingness to attain)
- Level 1 Referee Coach Qualification (or willingness to attain)
- Strong Computer Literacy
- Completion of Play by the Rules “Child Protection and Harassment and Discrimination” online course within first 6 months. (http://www.playbytherules.net.au/interactive- scenarios/free-online-training)
- Current First Aid Certificate (HLTAID001, HLTAID003)
- Leadership Skills
- Time Management Skills
Desirable Requirements:
- Current driver’s license and own vehicle
- Demonstrated skills in delivering a high level of customer service
- Passion for developing basketball referees
- Communication skills
- Ability to collaborate with external organisations to generate change
