All the information you need to be prepared for the 2025 WABL trials.

Trials are almost upon us! Below you will find the links for registration, along with all additional information regarding trials, eligibility, selection process, and age groups. Please read this information thoroughly before registering, as registration fees are non-refundable.

To be eligible to participate in trials and be selected in a Willetton Tigers team, the player must be playing in Willetton Basketball Association’s 2024 Winter Domestic season and be registered and financial for the 2024/2025 Summer Season. Eligibility checks are run on ALL players who register for trials. If a player does not meet this requirement, they will not be able to participate. The following age groups will compete in the 2025 WABL Competition:

U12 Boys & Girls – a player must be turning at least 9, 10 or 11 years old during 2025 (2014, 2015 or 2016 born)
U14 Boys and Girls – a player must be turning at least 12 or 13 years old during 2025 (2012 or 2013 born)
U16 Boys and Girls – a player must be turning at least 14 or 15 years old during 2025 (2010 or 2011 born)
U18 Men and Women – a player must be turning at least 16 or 17 years old during 2025 (2008 or 2009 born)
U20 Men – a player must be turning at least 18 or 19 years old during 2025 (2006 or 2007 born)
U21 Women – a player must be turning 18, 19 or 20 years old during 2025 (2005,2006 or 2007 born)

For ALL players with previous experience in 2023 and/or have played in the recent 2024 WABL Season, Trials will be held on the following dates.

– Thursday 10 October or Friday 11 October and Sunday 13 October (2 x sessions per week).

<- Thursday 17 October or Friday 18 October and Sunday 20 October 2024 (2 x sessions per week).

For those players born 2014, 2015, and 2016 who are in a Willetton Junior Domestic Club and have not played in a WABL Competition before, Trials will be held on the following dates.

– Thursday 10 October or Friday 11 October and Sunday 13 October 2024 (2 x sessions per week).

– Thursday 17 October or Friday 18 October and Sunday 20 October 2024 (2 x sessions per week).

For any Willetton Junior Domestic players born 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 or 2013 who have not played in a WABL Competition, Trials will be held for you on Sunday 6 October 2024. Successful players would then be invited to join Trials with WABL players on the dates above. All trials will be held at Willetton Basketball Stadium. Trials times, dates and Courts will be advertised on our website www.willettonbasketball.com.au and Facebook on/by Friday 4 October. Please check each session day/time carefully, as some age groups may have different days & times. Any changes to times will be communicated by Craig Friday, our Talent & Coaching Manager or Jackie Keepa High-Performance Administrator.

Registrations for 2025 WABL Trials will open from Sunday September 1, 2024.The cost to register for Trials for all experienced WABL players and those Domestic Players born 2014 or 2015 is $60.00. This fee is NON-REFUNDABLE.

For those Domestic Players with no previous WABL experience and trialling on Sunday 6 October 2024, $40.00 is payable at the time of registration. This fee is also NON-REFUNDABLE.

For ALL players with previous experience in 2023 and/or have played in the recent 2024 WABL Season, register below.

For those players born 2014 and 2015 who are in a Willetton Junior Domestic Club and have not played in a WABL Competition before, register below.

For any Willetton Junior Domestic players born 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 or 2013 who have not played in a WABL Competition, register below.

• A Willetton or Domestic Club Reversible singlet (or a light & dark tee shirt if you do not have a reversible singlet) and black domestic/WABL shorts. Clothing from other Associations is not permitted.
• Suitable basketball shoes/socks.
• The correct size basketball for your son’s/daughter’s age (if they have one).
* U12 Boys & Girls = Size 5.
* U14 Boys & Girls = Size 6.

* U16 Girls, U18 Women & U21 Women = Size 6.
* U16 Boys, U18 & U20 Men = Size 7.

Please ensure your ball is clearly labelled with their name and your best telephone number
• A filled water bottle (or 2) & your mouthguard (these are compulsory for ALL games & training.

The 2025 WABL Coaches team allocation, and the number of teams per age group, are still to be confirmed.

All communication regarding the Trials process & reduction of squads will come from Craig Friday, our Talent & Coaching Manager (TCM). Head Coaches will be included in the correspondence. Feedback will be provided upon request only after Sessions 3 and 4.

Trials squads may be reduced (at the Coach’s discretion) at ANY TIME during the Trials sessions. Please attend Trials as per the dates above unless Craig Friday communicates a reduction in the squad via email/other means.

Parents are unable to attend the WABL trials sessions. Please drop your child off at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the session, and come back and collect them at the conclusion of the session.
